People with disabilities and receive benefits receive a set amount every month. If they work, they are not supposed to make over $2,000 or they lose those benefits. For people with chronic disabilities, it is difficult to maintain a stable income. Additionally, if someone who is receiving these benefits gets married, those benefits are taken away as well. These benefits themselves should be enough for a living income, and the cap for cutting off benefits should be significantly higher. There should be an income amount per household that decides if a person’s benefits end after marriage.
